The Fruchi School Lunch Program
Fruchi was created in June 2006 with the primary goal of providing healthier and more nutritious food options for schools. Today nearly 25 million U.S. kids and teens are obese or seriously overweight and in need of a change in lifestyle and eating habits, and schools are being asked to play a big role in helping make this happen. In fact, any school participating in the National School Lunch program is now required to have an approved written “Wellness Program” in place and approved by their School Board. So change is being mandated, yet schools face some real challenges to overcome in providing healthier food to students, including:

• Tremendous budget pressure, made worse by losing a significant amount of revenue by discontinuing the sale of soft drinks, high fat snacks and other foods with limited nutritional value.

• Serving hundreds or even thousands of meals in a matter of an hour or two; foods that require heavy preparation or clean-up simply don’t work very well
